In a
feature on its Culture blog, Elle magazine recently interviewed
Rebecca Connell, author of
The Art of Losing. Connell's novel is about a young woman plotting revenge against the man she blames for her mother's death almost twenty years prior. The story is told in alternating chapters from the perspectives of both characters.
"At its most thrilling," Elle magazine writes, "The Art of Losing comes tantalizingly close to 'Singe White Female' melodrama, but the novel's greatest charms lie in its intricately plotted character studies...Connell explores the crushing weight of grief, the fragility of memory, and the corrupting power of infidelity."
