Zulu, Férey's first novel to be published in English, was recently named one of the
Ten Best African Crime Novels by Michael Stanley for the Guardian newspaper. Kirkus Reviews called it "a horrifying, eye-opening thriller [that] masterfully depicts the abject poverty of Cape Town's slums and the desperation of the townships' residents," and Publishers Weekly raved that Zulu is "powerful and unflinching in its portrayal of evil both mindless and calculating."
