Ferrante Conquers the Antipodes
Soon after we published Elena Ferrante's first two novels in her Neapolitan Series, Text Publishing published them in Australia. The response has been overwhelming. Brisbane's Sunday Mail called My Brilliant Friend, "A modern classic in the making." Melbourne's Weekly Times called My Brilliant Friend, "addictive." The Sydney Morning Herald said, "[Ferrante's novels] move far from contrivance, logic or respectability to ask uncomfortable questions about how we live, how we love, [and] how we singe an existence in a deeply flawed world." We are pleased to announce that these reviews and word-of-mouth recommendations have sent Text Publishing back to the presses for a reprint!
Although Ferrante's novels are set almost exclusively in Naples, it would seem their appeal is universal.
