Europa author Zane Lovitt's debut novel,
THE MIDNIGHT PROMISE, has been longlisted for the Ned Kelly Awards, Australia's oldest prize dedicated to crime writing by Australian authors. Lovitt's novel has been selected for the "Best First Fiction" category, which recognizes debut crime fiction novels. Other award categories include Best Fiction, Best True Crime (reserved for nonfiction titles), and the Sandra Harvey Short Story Award.
The short list will be announced on August 2nd at the Byron Bay Writers Festival, and the winners will be honored on Awards Night at the Brisbane Writer's Festival, September 4-8. Lovitt's novel has already received favorable reviews from Publisher's Weekly and a number of crime fiction publications, so the first-time author is a formidable contender for Australia's most prestigious award in the genre.
