The Bookseller has written a piece on the World Noir launch of our UK sister house, Europa Editions UK.
Literary fiction publisher Europa Editions is releasing a new crime list called World Noir this summer. The list of 11 titles is made up of new crime fiction and reissues, including international crime works by Jean-Claude Izzo and Benjamin Tammuz.
UK director of Europa Editions Daniela Petracco said they wanted to take a more "organic approach" to publishing crime fiction. To coincide with the new list, Europa has also released a free title, The World Noir Reader, that is a "tribute to international crime fiction". At 230 pages, it includes essays, interviews and excerpts from authors including Izzo and Andrea Camilleri, and is free to download.
Petracco said World Noir's mission was to "specialise in setting captivating crime stories in various places around the world where there are social and ethnic issues. It's a great way to travel around Europe from your armchair."
World Noir will include a previously unpublished collection of Izzo's essays called GARLIC, MINT AND SWEET BASIL as well as his Marseilles Trilogy (TOTAL CHAOS, CHOURMO and SOLEA). All reissues will be published on 9th May.
The World Noir list also includes a new novel from Caryl Ferey, MAPUCHE (11th July), as well as a tie-in edition of Ferey's ZULU, the Hollywood film adaptation of which is released this summer.
