We are saddened by the news that Christa Wolf has died in Berlin at the age of 82.
Christa was a magnificent friend. And as an author, over the past thirty years, she has deeply affected our lives. We have so many wonderful memories of our times together in Germany, Italy, and elsewhere; of holidays spent with her and her husband Gerhard; of impassioned literary and political discussions, laughter, and simple moments of togetherness. From
Cassandra on, her words, her feelings and her thoughts have profoundly influenced and changed us. As her Italian publishers we accompanied her from start to finish on her courageous journey.
She leaves behind an example for all of intellectual rigor, intelligence, humanity and unsurpassed sensitivity.
